Job Summary
The role is responsible for supporting the integration of appropriate engineering and technological solutions to mitigate environmental impacts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise on policies, regulations, standards, strategies, guidelines and plans regarding technology required to meet the challenges of environment degradation and/or pollution, including cross-cutting issues such as climate change in oil and gas, energy, and mineral development projects.
- Participate in a review of technical reports to ensure that the proposed technology meets the challenges of environmental degradation and/or pollution.
- Advise on pollution control and waste management strategies and plans for the Oil and Gas Sector.
- Inspect and monitor field operations to ensure compliance with environmental regulatory requirements, standards, and guidelines.
- Create awareness/ promotion of technology required to meet the challenges of environment degradation and/or pollution in the Sector.
- Participate in the preparation, implementation and/or review of Environment Assessments and Risk Assessments.
- Undertake periodic site Audits and follow-up on identified environmental issues.
- Participate in inspection of facilities, machinery, and equipment to facilitate relevant certification and compliance with environmental regulatory requirements, including, standards and guidelines.
- Implement the roles of the PAU as the Competent National Authority for the implementation of the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan (NOSCP).
- Any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Basic Qualifications
- An Honors Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology
- or any related engineering disciplines from an internationally recognized institution.
Experience
- Three (3) years of relevant working experience.
